Viking Hall is a 6,100-seat multi-purpose arena in Bristol, Tennessee, USA. Opened in 1981, the facility is the home arena and aquatic center for Bristol Tennessee High School . [ 1 ] [ 2 ] [ 3 ] It was formerly operated by the City of Bristol but is now managed by Bristol Tennessee City Schools.
During the 1982 basketball season, the Tennessee High Vikings traveled to Louisville, Kentucky to play in the King of Bluegrass Tournament. After returning to Bristol, Coach Dale Burns discussed with then Athletic Director Bill Bingham the possibility of having a similar tournament to take advantage of Tennessee High's tremendous facility, Viking Hall.
The Bristol Municipal Stadium, also known as the Stone Castle, hosts football and soccer games and was built in 1936 as part of the New Deal. Viking Hall, which opened in 1981, is Bristol Tennessee's civic center and the location of Tennessee High basketball games. According to legend, the school building is haunted. [5]

Remains of a Viking hall complex were uncovered in 1986–88 by Tom Christensen of the Roskilde Museum. [3] Wood from the foundation was radiocarbon-dated to circa 880. It was later found that this hall was built over an older hall which was itself dated to 680. In 2004–05, Christensen excavated a third hall located just north of the other two.
