This guide was originally published in the form of five threads at the language learning forum HTLAL, which I compiled in September 2009 based on discussions in which I had participated since 2006.
1. Move on at least one page in the main textbook (new material). 2. Listen to audio. 3. Recall - earlier chapter. 4. Grammar practice. I'm not picky when it comes to stationery, but I use nice highlighters (actually brush pens) in my textbook.

It creates a good, solid foundation and familiarity with a language in an unmeasurable kind of way that makes conscious learning much easier. I'm interested in a discussion about transcribing audio for language-learning. I'm specifically talking about using a section of audio for which you have not seen the transcript, and transcribing it (either by hand or computer) and checking it against the true transcript. After going through the tutorial and googling a bit, I quickly saw how it beats anki. Notetaking + flashcard building combined. It eliminates the "middle task".
