Science Olympiad, sometimes abbreviated as Scioly, is an American team competition in which students compete in 23 events pertaining to various fields of science, including earth science, biology, chemistry, physics, and engineering. Over 7,800 middle school and high school teams from 50 U.S. states compete each year.
The United States National Chemistry Olympiad (or USNCO) is a contest held by the American Chemical Society (ACS) used to select the four-student team that represents the United States at the International Chemistry Olympiad (IChO). Each local ACS section selects 10 students (or more for larger ACS sections) to take the USNCO National Exam.
Two separate special awards are given to the students who get the best score in the theoretical and practical examinations. The International Junior Science Olympiad (IJSO) is an annual science competition for students aged 15 and under on December 31st of the competition year. It is one of the International Science Olympiads and an international academical competition that covers physics , chemistry and biology at the same time.
