Lakes Entrance is a town in the Shire of East Gippsland, Victoria, Australia. It is situated approximately 320 kilometres (200 mi) east of Melbourne, near a managed, artificial channel connecting the Gippsland Lakes to Bass Strait. At the 2016 census, Lakes Entrance had a population of 4,810. [2]
The 2,390-hectare (5,900-acre) [2] park is set on the east shore of the Gippsland Lakes, fringed by the waters of Lake Victoria and Lake Reeve. [3] The park includes Sperm Whale Head peninsula and Rotamah and Little Rotamah Islands. The park is managed by Parks Victoria jointly with the traditional owners, the Gunaikurnai. [4]
