Pegasus Seiya (天馬星座 （ ぺガサス ） の星矢, Pegasasu no Seiya) is the Bronze Saint of Pegasus in the 20th century and titular character of the series. An orphaned child later revealed to be one of Mitsumasa Kido's sons, he was separated from his sister Seika and sent to Greece to become a Saint, a soldier of the goddess Athena.

With his friends defeated, Seiya reaches the statue, but doesn't receive a response. Hilda attacks Seiya again, believing she has won. The Odin Sapphires suddenly rise up and place themselves on Odin's crown. Seiya is miraculously saved and the legendary Odin Robe appears, complete with the legendary sword Balmung.
Seiya has also appeared as a supporting character in other works related to Saint Seiya, such as the anime Saint Seiya Omega and the Saint Seiya Episode.G manga trilogy. Like most of Kurumada's characters, Seiya's design was inspired by Ryuji Takane, the protagonist of his manga Ring ni Kakero.
