U.S. Route 287 (US 287) is a 281.183-mile (452.520 km) north-south U.S. Numbered Highway in Montana, United States, that connects Yellowstone National Park's West Entrance iwth to U.S. Route 89 in Choteau, about 100 miles (160 km) south of the Canadian border.
Montana's secondary system was established in 1942, [4] but secondary highways (S routes) were not signed until the 1960s. The route begins in Rapid City, South Dakota and runs north on U.S. Route 85 to Williston, North Dakota. From Williston, the route turns west on U.S. Route 2 to Culbertson, Montana where it turns north on Montana Highway 16 to the Canada–US border at Raymond, Montana. [4]
