Kinross is a small gold mining town in Mpumalanga, South Africa with four gold mines in the region. Village on the watershed between the Atlantic and Indian Oceans , between Devon and Trichardt , 42 km west of Bethal , 19 km east of Leslie and about 70 km north-north-east of Standerton .

Its northern terminus is in Kinross, Mpumalanga, at a junction with the R29. It is initially co-signed with the R547 southwards for a small distance before the R547 becomes its own road to the south-south-west, while the R546 heads south. Just after, it crosses the N17 highway.
From the R50 junction in Leandra, the R29 journeys eastwards for 20 km to the town of Kinross (North of Evander), where it meets the R547 road. After Kinross, it goes for another 10 km eastwards to mark its end at a point north-west of Secunda, known as the Leven Station Junction, where it meets the R580 road and the N17 highway.
