The ident for the look featured a white background with embossed, 3D lettering spelling out "TWO" in a stencil style font. [1] [2] [4] The "TWO" are coloured red, green and blue to represent the phosphors of television, and was a device the channel had used before (they also represented the national colours of Wales, Northern Ireland and Scotland respectively).
The first clock ident was used in February until December 1991, the second was used in December 1991 until October 1997. The clock was edited in October 1997 with the new logo. This was the last BBC Two logo to use the clock ident. The new idents commissioned after 1997 placed less emphasis on the use of the colour viridian and the bell/harp music.
The 2015 rebrand consists of the 1991–2001 idents, but they now have the BBC Two 50 Years box replaced with BBC Two's regular teal-coloured box logo. However, BBC Two Northern Ireland airs the idents with the BBC Two Northern Ireland logo in the centre of the idents with the box removed.
This new electronic clock had no second hand judder and had a changed design, featuring two dashes at the quarter hours and single dashes elsewhere. The polo mint centre was abandoned in favour of a simple centre dot, and the 3D striped '2' logo adorned the bottom of the screen, although it was unanimated.

Clock idents are typically used before news bulletins and closedown , though in the past quite commonly preceded regular programming.

The first was a modified version of the last time-piece and featured to the right of the screen, a large clock face with markers at every minute mark and with Roman numerals for every five minutes.
