Destination Truth is an American paranormal reality television series that premiered on June 6, 2007, on Syfy. Produced by Mandt Bros. Productions and Ping Pong Productions, the program follows paranormal researcher Josh Gates around the world to investigate claims of the supernatural , mainly in the field of cryptozoology .
Josh and team go to the African island of Pemba which is reportedly haunted by the tortured spirits of former slaves. Then, he's off to the Gobi Desert to hunt for the Mongolian Death Worm, a creature, 4 feet (1.2 m) long, that reportedly secretes acid and shoots electricity.
From 2007 to 2012, Gates was the host of Destination Truth on Syfy. The series premiered its second season with its best-ever telecast, delivering 1.7 million total viewers and making the show the highest-rated second season performance by a reality series on Syfy. The series ended after its fifth season. [8]
