Portions of the Cottonwood Campground, 4,000 feet (1,200 m) below rim, are visible from the end of the trail. Grand Canyon Village on the South Rim is visible about 10 miles (16 km) away across the canyon. There is no water available on trail. Situated at the far eastern end of the South Rim, 27 miles (43 km) from Grand Canyon Village, the tower stands 70 feet (21 m) tall. The top of the tower is 7,522 feet (2,293 m) above sea level, the highest point on the South Rim. It offers one of the few full views of the bottom of the canyon and the Colorado River.
