The Westgate is located on a 64-acre (26 ha) site on the east side of Paradise Road, approximately 0.4 miles (0.64 km) east of Las Vegas Boulevard. It is adjacent to the Las Vegas Convention Center to the south and Las Vegas Country Club to the east. The hotel has 2,956 rooms. [1] The hotel tower is 375 feet (114 m) tall, with 30 floors. [2]
Westgate was to finance the project, which would be managed by Starwood. Construction was to begin later that year, with completion of the first units scheduled for New Year's Eve 2007. Unsold timeshare units were to be used as hotel rooms for the Aladdin resort, which was to undergo a $120 million renovation to become the Planet Hollywood resort.
David Alan Siegel (born May 3, 1935) [2] is an American businessman who founded Westgate Resorts Ltd, a Florida-based timeshare resort firm, and is its president and chief executive officer. He has ten biological children and two adopted children. Siegel is CEO of CFI Resorts Management Inc and Central Florida Investments Inc.
The resort includes a 64,470 sq ft (5,989 m 2) casino and 2,494 hotel rooms. It also features the Miracle Mile Shops and PH Live , a 7,000-seat entertainment venue. The site of Planet Hollywood was previously occupied by the Aladdin , an Arabian-themed hotel and casino which operated until 1997.
