Cleomella lutea is a species of flowering plant known by the common names yellow bee plant and yellow spiderflower. This annual wildflower is native to the western United States where it is most common in desert scrub and plateau habitats. It is a sprawling plant often exceeding 1 metre (3 feet) in height.
The plants may be annuals, herbaceous perennials or shrubs, growing to a height of 60–90 cm (24–35 inches). The genus was a wastebasket taxon , and many of its members have been reclassified in smaller genera, most notably the Everlastings, now in the genus Xerochrysum .
Rhinanthus angustifolius, the narrow-leaved rattle or greater yellow-rattle, is a plant species in the broomrape family, Orobanchaceae. [1] It is an annual wildflower native to temperate grasslands in much of Europe, and north and central Western Asia. The yellow flowers are mostly visited by bumblebees. [2]
It is an annual that produces yellow flowers. In tropical areas, it can bloom year round, while in temperate areas it blooms in late spring and early summer. [2] Plants are variable in height, ranging from 10 to 150 cm (4 to 59 in) depending on growing conditions. Stems are usually solitary and erect. Basal leaves are large and pinnately divided.
There are two subspecies, T. h. austropurpureum which has violet-purple flowers and T. h. pilosum with yellow flowers. [19] The Canary creeper (Tropaeolum peregrinum) is a trailing and climbing half-hardy annual species with wiry stalks and palmately lobed leaves. The pale yellow, fringed flowers are borne on long stalks.
It flowers very profusely, [50] and the large flower heads are borne on stalks 5–9 cm (2–3.5 in) above the foliage. Unlike other forms, the stems wither and die naturally after flowering, making way for more new growth and flowers. [51] The flower heads are golden yellow and measure 6 cm (2.5 in) across. [7]
