Roma Airport (IATA: RMA, ICAO: YROM) is an airport located 2 nautical miles (3.7 km; 2.3 mi) northwest [1] of Roma, Queensland, Australia.The airport underwent a major redevelopment completed in April 2012, replacing the original A.T. Berry Terminal with a larger, modern facility.
Mount Abundance Homestead, consisting of house and attached quarters, is located approximately 5 kilometres (3.1 mi) west of Roma and 1 kilometre (0.62 mi) south of the main road to Charleville. It is sited on high ground on the southern bank of Bungeworgorai Creek.
The Borough of Roma was established in 1867. [2]On 31 March 1903, under the Local Authorities Act (1902), the Borough of Roma became the Town of Roma. [2]In July 2007, the Local Government Reform Commission released a report recommending a number of amalgamations of local government areas in Queensland.
Roma is a rural town and locality in the Maranoa Region, Queensland, Australia. [3] [4] It is the administrative centre of the Maranoa Region.The town was incorporated in 1867 and is named after Lady Diamantina Bowen (née di Roma), the wife of Sir George Bowen, the Governor of Queensland at the time.
The Western Star and Roma Advertiser was published by Francis Kidner [3] as a weekly newspaper from 1875 to 28 September 1878, a bi-weekly from 1 October 1878 to 1939, and as a weekly from 1940 to 1948. As the Western Star, it was published as a weekly from 1948 to 22 April 1949, before becoming bi-weekly once more.
Roma is served by Queensland Rail Travel's twice weekly Westlander service travelling between Brisbane and Charleville. [2] The Westbound service (3S86) arrives at Roma at 6:05am and departs at 6:15am Wednesdays and Fridays. The eastbound service (3987) arrives at 11:25pm and departs at 11:35pm Wednesdays and Fridays.
