Date sorting does not work for columns with only the year before the month (no day). Adding data-sort-type=date or data-sort-type=isoDate to the column header does not help. Click each column header a couple times in the tables below to see. Note the column headed data-sort-type=isoDate may sort correctly in some browsers, but it is not reliable.
Default date sorting does not work for spelled-out month–year or year–month combos and dates before the year 100, but it works in most other circumstances. For more information, see Help:Sortable tables § Date sorting problems .
To avoid this problem when doing an alphabetical sort, select all of the table except the header rows. To do so with multiple columns click the top left non-column-header cell, and then shift-click the bottom right cell. When you click on "ascending" or "descending" in the data menu the table will be sorted alphabetically. That is the default.
Unfortunately, the ability to sort by "From," "Subject," or "Date" is no longer supported if you use the New/Old style of inbox. If you want to sort your messages this way, switch to the Unified Inbox style .
