The Fair was not held in 1917 or 1918 due to influenza outbreak but began again in 1919. [3] The fair was later rechartered as a non-profit organization and renamed the Tennessee Valley Agricultural and Industrial Fair in 1932 - the 1933 fair was the first Fair operating under the new name.

The park covers 81 acres (33 ha), and includes a 57,100-square-foot (5,300 m 2 ) exposition center, a 1910-era bandstand, a 4,500-seat amphitheater, and a 3-acre (1.2 ha) lake, Lake Ottosee.
The TimesDaily was founded in 1889 as The Florence Times and published its first edition on July 4, 1890. A sister paper, The Tri-Cities Daily , was founded in 1907.
