The Colorado State Forest Service (CSFS) is the forest service agency for the U.S. state of Colorado. It is modeled after the United States Forest Service. Their goal is "providing timely, relevant forestry information and education to Colorado citizens." [1] The Colorado General Assembly established the CSFS in 1955.
The Nebraska National Forest is a United States National Forest located within the U.S. state of Nebraska. The total area of the national forest is 141,864 acres (221.663 sq mi; 574.10 km 2 ). During the 1893 Chicago World's Fair, Chadron was the starting point of the 1,000-mile "Chadron-Chicago Cowboy Horse Race." Nine riders competed for the $1,000 prize to be the first to reach the entrance of Buffalo Bill's Wild West Show. Among the riders was the former outlaw Doc Middleton. John Berry won the race in 13 days and 16 hours. [7]
Chadron State Park was established in 1921, making it Nebraska's oldest state park. [2] The Civilian Conservation Corps was active in the park in the 1930s: Under the work program guest cabins were constructed and improvements made at the swimming pool and picnic and recreation area. Roads and trails were improved and drainage structures built.

The recreation area is managed by the Pine Ridge Ranger District of the Nebraska National Forest. It is home to wildlife species such as coyotes, bobcats, elk, white-tailed deer, mule deer, eagles, hawks, and wild turkeys. Activities in the recreation area include hiking, horseback riding, and mountain biking.
The U.S. State of Colorado has only one state forest, the Colorado State Forest in Jackson County. The Colorado State Forest is managed by the Colorado State Forest Service and is coextensive with the State Forest State Park which is managed by Colorado Parks and Wildlife.
