Earl J. "Hymie" Weiss (born Henryk Wojciechowski; [1] January 25, 1898 – October 11, 1926), was a Polish-American mob boss who became a leader of the Prohibition-era North Side Gang and a bitter rival of Al Capone. He was known as "the only man Al Capone feared".

Also, I've understood that he was born in NYC. His nickname "Hymie" is certainly Jewish sounding but he was not Jewish. Hymie was coined by members of the Chicago press corps for unknown reasons. Wojciechowski is good Polish name and Weiss is an old and common German name. Weiss was his mother's name.
