Dearborn Heights is a city in Wayne County in the U.S. state of Michigan. An inner-ring suburb of Detroit, Dearborn Heights is located about 12 miles (19 km) west of downtown Detroit. The city shares a small border with Detroit, and is considered a bedroom community. [5] As of the 2020 census, the city had a population of 63,292. [6]
After Michigan's congressional map was redrawn in 2022, the 12th lost Ann Arbor and most of its suburbs and was re-centered around the cities of Detroit and Dearborn. [4] During the 113th Congress (2013 to 2015), the district was represented by John Dingell .
Dearborn is among a small number of municipalities that own property in other cities. It owns the 626-acre (2.53 km 2) Camp Dearborn in Milford, Michigan, which is located 35 miles (56 km) from Dearborn. [18] Dearborn was among an even smaller number of cities that hold property in another state.
