Between September 1921 and October 1926, US 29 was designated on SR 14's entire length. Three segments of the highway had a completed hard surface: a portion in the east-northeast part of West Point, from south-southwest of LaGrange to just southwest of the Troup–Meriwether–Coweta county tripoint, and from Moreland to Atlanta.
The highway heads through the rural northwestern part of the county and enters Harris County. A short distance after entering Harris County is an intersection with SR 315 in Piney Grove. SR 219 then heads northeast to begin paralleling Interstate 185 (I-185) for a while. During that stretch is an intersection with SR 103 and SR 116.
Like its parent route, however, it joins the alternate in another concurrency. US 27 Alt./US 29/SR 14 serves as the main road through downtown Moreland, and, after passing by the Lewis Grizzard Museum, [2] the Atlanta and West Point Railroad (AWP) main line moves to the west side of the road at a powerline right-of-way.
