David Allan Hoyda (May 20, 1957 – February 8, 2015) was a Canadian professional ice hockey player. Hoyda played four seasons in the National Hockey League (NHL) with the Philadelphia Flyers and Winnipeg Jets. [1]
Kowalski first ran for a seat to the Alberta Legislature in a by-election held in November 1979 in the electoral district of Barrhead to replace Hugh Horner. He ran against three other candidates including Alberta Liberal leader Nicholas Taylor. Kowalski just barely won the election with Taylor finishing a strong second.

Barrhead / ˈ b ɑːr h ɛ d / is a town in central Alberta, Canada that is surrounded by the County of Barrhead No. 11. It is located along the Paddle River and at the intersection of Highway 33 (Grizzly Trail) and Highway 18 , approximately 120 km (75 mi) northwest of the City of Edmonton .
