East 9th–North Coast station (signed as North Coast) is a station on the RTA Waterfront Line in Cleveland, Ohio. The station is located west of East 9th Street and serves the North Coast Harbor area, after which the station is named. The station also serves the northern portion of Downtown Cleveland, including Cleveland City Hall.
The Waterfront light rail line provides access from Tower City Center to the Flats, Cleveland Browns Stadium, the Great Lakes Science Center, the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, and Burke Lakefront Airport.
The station opened on July 10, 1996, [2] when light rail service was extended 2.2 miles from Tower City through The Flats and along the lakefront. This extension was designated the Waterfront Line, although it is actually an extension of the Blue and Green Lines, as trains leaving this station toward Tower City continue along the Blue or Green Line routes to Shaker Heights.
The Waterfront Line began service at Tower City on July 10, 1996. On July 31, 2016, RTA began replacing the track bed for track 8, the main westbound track. [3] In order to prevent service disruptions during the track replacement, RTA temporarily reopened the Shaker rapid track to the public.
