Twenty of the thirty-five mill houses remained, and twelve more were to be added, to be occupied by tourists. Mill artifacts would be placed in a museum. [2] The town was featured in season 1 episode 4 of In With The Old 10-22-2021 where the Reyes family (the new owners of the village) were refurbishing one of the original mill houses.
After John Lusk died in 1915, the property was put up for sale. A logging company, Hoosier Veneer, paid US$ 30,200.00 for the site. Richard Lieber and the State Parks Commission raised $40,000.00 to buy the land from the lumber company after last minute support from the Indianapolis Motor Speedway on November 11, 1916.
