Joseph State Airport (ICAO: KJSY, FAA LID: JSY, formerly 4S3) is a public use airport located one nautical mile (1.85 km) west of the central business district of Joseph, a city in Wallowa County, Oregon, United States. It is owned by the Oregon Department of Aviation. [1] Commercial flights are not currently available to Joseph.
The airport was constructed in 1968. It is named after Joseph Yale Resnick, a member of the U.S. House of Representatives who served from January 3, 1965, until January 3, 1969. In 1988, the town of Wawarsing purchased the airport with the assistance of federal and state funding. [3] It is still currently operated by the town of Wawarsing.

Originally, the airport was a cooperative project between the City of Connellsville, Fayette County, and the Federal Works Progress Administration (WPA) Program. Although first opened in October 1938, [7] it was heavily used during World War II by the United States Army Air Force Air Technical Service Command as a sub-depot of the Middletown Air Depot near Harrisburg.
