Presque Isle State Park (/ p r ɛ s k / PRESK) is a 3,112-acre (1,259 ha) Pennsylvania State Park on an arching, sandy peninsula jutting into Lake Erie, 4 miles (6 km) west of the city of Erie, in Millcreek Township, Erie County, Pennsylvania, in the United States.
Shades Beach Park is a lake-side recreational area, beach, and marina north of Lake Road East in Harborcreek Township. Once part of the Erie County park system, control passed from the county to the township in the late 1990s. Federal, state, and county funding totaling $2.6 million provided a boat launch and other major improvements. [40]
Admission to all Pennsylvania state parks is free, although there are fees charged for use of cabins, marinas, etc. Pennsylvania's state parks offer "over 7,000 family campsites, 286 cabins, nearly 30,000 picnic tables, 56 major recreational lakes, 10 marinas, 61 beaches for swimming, 17 swimming pools" and over 1,000 miles (1,600 km) of trails.

The campground does have flush toilets, but no showers. There are pay showers nearby in the picnic area. [2] Bear Wallow Cabins Colony is a group of 12 rustic cabins that were built and used by the CCC during the 1930s. Each cabin has a fireplace, refrigerator, modern shower and toilet outbuilding, beds and electricity. [2]
The Youngstown YMCA began hosting camps for young boys in the early 1900s, the first of which was conducted at Muddy Lake near Ravenna, Ohio in 1906. In 1907, the camp was moved to Grand River between Orwell and Ashtabula and the following year the camp was moved to a site on Lake Erie between Saybrook and Geneva-on-the-Lake.
