The 33rd Armor Regiment was an armored regiment in the United States Army first formed in 1941. In 2005, the 33rd Armor was redesignated 33rd Cavalry Regiment. The 1st Squadron, 33rd Cavalry Regiment, a part of the 3rd Brigade Combat Team, 101st Airborne Division, carries on the lineage of 33rd Armor Regiment.
In 2008 and 2009, soldiers of the 33d Infantry Brigade Combat Team served in the War in Afghanistan. The regiment was constituted on 15 May 1917 in the Regular Army as the 63rd Infantry. It was organized on 1 June 1917 at the Presidio of San Francisco, California, from personnel of the 12th Infantry Regiment, and was assigned to the 11th Division on 5 July 1918. After the armistice, it was relieved from the 11th Division on 29 November 1918.
