It excludes the 4 Israeli settlements in the West Bank designated as cities, but occupied East Jerusalem is included within Jerusalem. The list is based on the current index of the Israel Central Bureau of Statistics (CBS).

Dimona was declared a city in 1969. In 1971, it had a population of 23,700.
