Grayton Beach is a small, historic beach village on the Florida Panhandle Gulf coast halfway between Destin and Panama City in Walton County and adjacent to Grayton Beach State Park. Collectively, the area is known as the “Beaches of South Walton", with South Walton referring to the southern portion of Walton County below the Choctawhatchee Bay.
Inlet Beach is located in south Walton and Bay Counties in Florida, with the western most side being Bay County at the state park. Inlet Beach is the most eastern South Walton County beach and is named after Phillips Inlet. The use of the name Inlet Beach antedates World War II. [1]
In Walton County the St. Joe Company donated the land at 7800 US Hwy 98 in Miramar Beach where Ascension Sacred Heart Hospital Emerald Coast was built, and helped create a STEAM School named “The Magnet Innovation Center” on land and with facilities previously used as the company’s corporate offices at 133 S. Watersound Parkway.
Walton County was organized by European Americans in 1824. It was named for Colonel George Walton Jr., secretary of the Florida Territory from 1821 to 1826. Walton, the son of George Walton, a signer of the Declaration of Independence, was born August 15, 1786, in Augusta, Georgia, and died March 20, 1859, in Petersburg, Virginia.

Freeport is a city in Walton County, Florida, United States. It is part of the Crestview–Fort Walton Beach–Destin, Florida Metropolitan Statistical Area. As of 2020, the population recorded by the U.S. Census Bureau was 5,861, up from 1,787 at the 2010 census. Freeport is one of the fastest growing cities in Florida.
