New Port Richey is a city in Pasco County, Florida, United States. It is a suburban city included in the Tampa-St. Petersburg-Clearwater, Florida Metropolitan Statistical Area . The population was counted at 16,728 in the 2020 census.

Elroy M. Avery's personal collection of over 1,000 books was used to help establish the Avery Library and Historical Society on April 10, 1920 (which became the New Port Richey Public Library and West Pasco Historical Society Museum and Library). [2] [3] The West Pasco Historical Society was formed in 1973.

George R Sims (1876 - 1954) was the founder of New Port Richey, Florida and the donor of the land for Sims Park, originally known as Enchantment Park. A waymarker commemorates the gift. [1] Sims moved to New Port Richey in 1922 from Great Neck, New York. He purchased property during the 1925-26 land boom.
The Hacienda Hotel is a historic site in New Port Richey, Florida. It is located at 5621 Main Street. On October 24, 1996, it was added to the U.S. National Register of Historic Places. It was designed by Thomas Reed Martin. The hotel originally opened in 1927. The city of New Port Richey bought the building in 2003. [2]
In addition to lending of its materials holdings, the New Port Richey Public Library offers many programs and services for the community. The library works with several local organizations and groups in the community, including the West Pasco Historical Society, which was founded in the 1970s with the support of then-director, Janet Lewis.
