One interesting point about ABA accreditation, per the panel I sat on with Dean Loser (it's pronounced "low-sir," but I agree it's an unfortunate name): the lowest a private law school can charge for annual tuition and comply with all of the ABA's requirements for accreditation is around $25,000 per year.
The only other option I MAY recommend would be Nashville School of Law. It is of course unaccredited and they take anyone with a pulse, but around Nashville there are lots of small firm alums. So, if you wanted to do divorces in Goodlettsville/Gallatin or some other nearby small town and are fine with making 35-40k, it isn't a terrible option ...
I had a question concerning Nashville School of Law. I am currently in undergrad at University of Tennessee and planning on attending law school. My major is finance and I am interested in corporate law. I was wondering if trying to get a job with a company while attending Nashville School of Law was a good idea or should I just go to school.
Vanderbilt Law School, ranked 17th by U.S. News and 12th by Above the Law in 2022, seems to operate with several enduring principles in mind: collegiality, excellence, and service. Vandy is located in Nashville, Tennessee, both the state capital and the country's best spot for country music. The school was founded in 1874, and since then ...
Re: Nashville Salary Scale + Bonus. by Anonymous User » Tue Mar 16, 2021 7:08 am. Big Four in Nashville starts at 140/150 and top out at low-to-mid 200s; you can figure out the progression in between. Typical bonuses are 10-25 (hour requirements are 1850/1900). Income partners start around 250.
My friend said his Nashville firm released their 2022 rates, and his rate went up around $85 (low-700s for an 8th year). Yes, that’s a lot higher than where Nashville was a decade ago (almost double), but a lot of biglaw firms have also doubled their hourly rates in that period.
I know that a few years ago most of the firms increased salaries to 120k, but I have not been able to find information on where the firms are in 2018. According to NALP, Bass Berry gives first year's 130k--though I have heard they recently increased salaries again, but I haven't been able to confirm it.
Bass>Waller>>Baker/Bradley. K&L and Polsinelli fall somewhere there. I’m assuming you’re asking about OCI, but even Bass and Waller aren’t really that selective for laterals. I went to Vandy undergrad and law school elsewhere (non-T14), graduated around median, and got lateral offers at both. taterzz.
Liz Cabraser is in the music industry as well (she's a drummer, and otherwise genuinely cool person!). IIRC she also owns a drum manufacturing company. I could be wrong. Anyways, I believe that at least partly explains a Nashville presence. 2 posts • Page 1 of 1.
I want Nashville. by Anonymous User » Mon Jun 25, 2012 1:01 am. I was raised in Nashville, went to undergrad in Nashville, have family in Nashville, and chose to attend law school at Vanderbilt because I know that I want to permanently live in Nashville. At the end of 1L, I am above median, but probably not top third.
