The younger suits realize that the younger consumers of television news don't give a stinking crap about the "legacy" of a number. True and TV's made today are not on channel numbers but on Apps. In this case it's all about CW and CBS affiliates owned by Paramount promoting the CBS News and Paramount+ apps. It's just like KPIX/KBCW, KCAL/KCBS ...
I don't understand why WPRI 12.1 signs off for one to two hours every late Friday / early Saturday and late Saturday/early Sunday?. For example move Madam Secretary to 11:30 pm after the news and move American Ninja Warrior reruns to 12:30am and sign off at 1:30 am and go back on the air at 6am.

WJXX 25 had "News Chopper 25" from 1997 to 2000 when the station had its own news department, before the Gannett acquisition/merger with WTLV 12 and "First Coast News".
