Mojave Narrows Park near Victorville in San Bernardino County, California is a 886-acre (3.59 km 2) [1] regional park that features a 50-acre (0.20 km 2) fishing lake and hiking trails. Once described as "one of Southern California 's least-known parks," [ 2 ] it is a location where the typically subterranean Mojave River flows above ground.
Geography. The 33,843-acre (13,696 ha) Clipper Mountain Wilderness is found mostly on the northern section of the Clipper Mountains, which are adjacent on the north to Interstate 40 and historic U.S. Route 66. The wilderness area is adjoining the southern National Park Service Mojave National Preserve. It is 50 miles west of Needles, California.
The Clipper Mountain Wilderness is on the northern slopes of the range, and also within Mojave Trails National Monument. [3] It includes rugged yellow and dark brown, horizontally striped mesas; narrow canyons with hidden springs; and sparsely vegetated alluvial fans. This small cluster of volcanic mountains is oriented northeast to southwest. [4]
