Ethiopian and Eritrean studies scholars congregate at the interdisciplinary International Conference of Ethiopian Studies, a series of gatherings that takes place every three years. Traditionally, every third conference is held in Ethiopia. The 19th meeting was in Warsaw, August 24–28, 2015. The 20th conference was in Mekelle, Ethiopia, in 2018.

He founded the Institute of Semitic Studies, which he directs from his home in Princeton, NJ, [1] and is the chair of his Ethiopian Peace and Development Center.

Getatchew Haile (Amharic: ጌታቸው ኀይሌ, romanized: Gētachew Ḫäyilē; April 19, 1931 – June 10, 2021) [1] was an Ethiopian-American philologist widely considered the foremost scholar of the Ge'ez language [2] and one of its most prolific (he published more than 150 books and articles). [3]
