The pardons granted to the Scottsboro Boys today are long overdue. The legislation that led to today's pardons was the result of a bipartisan, cooperative effort. Haywood Patterson (December 12, 1912 – August 24, 1952) was one of the Scottsboro Boys. He was accused of raping Victoria Price and Ruby Bates.
