The Sisters School District purchased property for the high school in 1938. The land was bought from the Oregon and Western Colonization Company, which owned unused right-of-way along U.S. Route 20. The 2-acre (0.81 ha) lot acquired for the high school is a triangular parcel of land on the southeast side of Sisters.
