The Ardells was a band started by Steve Miller in 1961 when he attended the University of Wisconsin–Madison.In the fall of 1962, Steve lived in a rooming house in Madison and also pledged the Chi Psi fraternity on fraternity row near Langdon St. Steve taught another fellow student, Jos Davidson, to play rhythm guitar and then bass, and formed a campus band: Steve Miller and the Ardells.

The Corporation formed in 1968, when the Kondos brothers joined up with members of a band called Eastern Mean Time, and they started appearing at the Galaxy Club, located in Cudahy, Wisconsin, a southeastern suburb of Milwaukee. [1] A few months later, they were discovered by Capitol Records executives, while playing at The Bastille club. [2]

Wisconsinite Butch Vig (attended the University of Wisconsin), formerly of Fire Town, formed Garbage (originally based in Madison) in 1993 with Steve Marker, Duke Erikson and Shirley Manson.
