Decatur is a village in Burt County, Nebraska, United States, adjacent to the upper Missouri River. The population was 481 at the 2010 census. This town is named after one of its incorporators, Stephen Decatur. It developed around a trading post established by Colonel Peter Sarpy, the namesake for Sarpy County in the state.
The First Baptist Church is a historic church building in Red Cloud, Nebraska. It was built in 1884 thanks to the American Baptist Home Mission Society . [ 2 ] Author Willa Cather grew up attending this church with her parents, and she wrote about it in her 1915 novel, The Song of the Lark . [ 2 ]

The church was founded in 1939 in Scottdale as Travelers Rest Baptist Church. [1] In 1983, it moved to Decatur and adopted its current name. Eddie Long took over as pastor in 1987. At the time, the church had only 300 members. In 1994, New Birth became a member of the Full Gospel Baptist Church Fellowship. [2]
It lies south of the Bank Street-Old Decatur Historic District and east of the New Decatur–Albany Residential Historic District. New Decatur was founded in 1887 as a planned town and suburb of Decatur. The town was renamed Albany in 1916 and merged with "Old" Decatur in 1927. The district contains 48 buildings centered on 2nd Avenue.
