The commune is about 35 km (22 mi) by car to the south west from the center of the capital Hà Nội. It borders Chương Mỹ district to the north, the communes xã Phúc Lâm and Vĩnh Xương to the east, Hòa Bình Province to the west, and commune Thượng Lâm to the south.

In grade 6 Tam Doan learned more about Mandolin and Guitar. In 1989, Tam Doan along with his mother and younger sister, left Vietnam to settle in Canada.
