It follows teenage Tanjiro Kamado, who strives to become a Demon Slayer after his family was slaughtered and his younger sister, Nezuko, is turned into a demon. Tanjiro is overpowered by Rui and Nezuko is forced to intervene. Seeing their bond, Rui declares her his new sister, before revealing his rank as Lower Five. He takes Nezuko and restrains her.
