We have a regional farm supply store (Rural King), that sells Exide batteries with a 1 year free / 5 year pro-rated warranty for $49, which is the same price as the Wal*Mart Value batteries (with 1 year free replacement only). The Rural King (Exide) battery this replaces was about $60 and was put in service in April '17. I consider a 3 year service life substandard, but when considering cost / year it's really not that bad. I figure this new AGM battery will need to last at least 6-7 years for the math to work in its favor.

They are Exide H7 is $110 compared to $170 for an H7 Die Hard battery, $150 for an H7 interstate battery, $150 for an Everstart H7 (Walmart), and $170 for a Duralast gold battery. All of them come with a 3-year free replacement. That's definitely enough of a savings to try one in my opinion.

My suggestion was to go to the larger 51R battery which was OEM on the Fits built in Japan. I've never seen the tiny 151R battery at any WalMart and it is often more expensive than a comparable grade 51R size.
I have had a $46. John Deere last one year and have had a $19. battery from Wally World last 7. Four to five years seem to be the average for me. I have been using Rural King batteries (Exide) and getting 4-5 years from them for between $12-14. (after rebate at the beginning of the season) and got five years from the last one.

4,379. Aug 25, 2023. #2. WalMart lists a 51R on their web site. They should be available at the store or at least available for ordering and store pickup. The prices vary based on CCA rating with the lower CCA rating being the cheapest. They're still $109.76 for 425 CCA and 2 year replacement.
