There has been decline these past two years, but when I took her to the hospital 3 weeks ago because of symptoms of confusion (which revealed the UTI) she could still walk on her own and for the most part, could hold a conversation for about a minute or two. Now, she can't hold a thought for more than 20-30 seconds.

What worries me more is the diagnosis of a gram negative bacteria. Without going into all the medical mumbo jumbo here, I will try to explain what this means.
I don't know about the legal aspect but my concern is that if I chose feeding tube and then decided to have it removed would that present a problem legally,since mom is unable to speak for herself.
