Shadehill Recreation Area is a state recreation area in South Dakota located around the Shadehill Reservoir in Perkins County. Shadehill Dam is a dam (constructed 1951) on the Grand River in Perkins County in northwestern South Dakota in the United States, about 10 miles (16 km) south of Lemmon. The dam and its impoundment, Shadehill Reservoir , serve mainly for flood and silt control, wildlife conservation and recreation.
The District also shares part of the shoreline of Shadehill Reservoir. This area is accessible from South Dakota Highway 73, west of the highway. This part of the lakeshore is adjacent to the South Cabin sites. Camping is free. A good gravel shoreline is available for fishing.
