The Dental Corps of the United States Navy consists of naval officers with a doctorate in either dental surgery (DDS) or dental medicine (DMD) and who practice dentistry for Sailors and Marines to ensure optimal oral health. The U.S. Navy Dental Corps was established by an Act of Congress in 1912.

The 2nd Battalion, 25th Marines (2/25) is a reserve infantry battalion in the United States Marine Corps. Headquartered in Brooklyn, New York, it has units located throughout the Mid-Atlantic States. It consists of approximately 1,000 Marines and sailors under the command of the 25th Marine Regiment and the 4th Marine Division.
The museum continues to serve an educational role in explaining the history of the evolution of New York Harbor. [ 6 ] Fort Hamilton is the "second-oldest continuously garrisoned federal post in the nation", [ 1 ] second only to West Point and its ties to the community are part of the charm of the museum and the fort.
John Freeman Mackie (October 1, 1835 – June 18, 1910) was a United States Marine Corps sergeant during the American Civil War.He was awarded the nation's highest military decoration for valor—the Medal of Honor, for his actions aboard the USS Galena during the battle with Confederate Marines and artillery batteries at Fort Darling near Richmond, Virginia, on May 15, 1862.
It is one of four dental Marine Corps battalions and the only reserve dental battalion.
