TeX font metric (TFM) is a font file format used by the TeX typesetting system. It is a font metric format, not an outline font format like TrueType, because it provides only the information necessary to typeset the font such as each character's width, height and depth.
Therefore, it can be easily applied to LaTeX based documents by adding \usepackage{ebgaramond} to the document preamble. Unfortunately the classic LaTeX font system cannot make use of all characters and OpenType features offered by EB Garamond, but this can be solved by using the XeTeX smartfont subsystem.

Manche Symbole sind in jedem LaTeX-2ε-System verfügbar; andere benötigen zusätzliche Schriftarten oder Pakete, die nicht notwendig in jeder Distribution mitgeliefert werden und daher selbst installiert werden müssen.
LaTeX (/ ˈ l ɑː t ɛ k / ⓘ LAH-tek or / ˈ l eɪ t ɛ k / LAY-tek, [2] [Note 1] often stylized as L a T e X) is a software system for typesetting documents. EC fonts – look much like Computer Modern, but have slightly different metrics. These were the first TeX fonts to use the "Cork encoding" (in LaTeX also known as T1 encoding) that provides precomposed glyphs for West-European languages. The original EC fonts were only available as Metafont generated bitmaps.
Thus, these fonts permit free and open-source software (FOSS) systems to have high-quality fonts that are metric-compatible with Microsoft software. The Fedora Project, as of version 9, was the first major Linux distribution to include these fonts by default and features a slightly revised versions of the Liberation fonts contributed by Ascender.
A list of hyphenation patterns is first generated automatically from a corpus of hyphenated words (a list of 50,000 words). If TeX must find the acceptable hyphenation positions in the word encyclopedia , for example, it will consider all the subwords of the extended word .encyclopedia. , where . is a special marker to indicate the beginning or ...
