In 1974, Valley View planted 14 acres (57,000 m 2) more. The original 26 acres (110,000 m 2) of vineyards consisted of Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Chardonnay, Pinot noir and Gewürztraminer. Valley View's first two vintages, which consisted of Cabernet Sauvignon, were produced by Tualatin Vineyard in the Willamette Valley.

In the Ottawa Wine Tasting of 1981, the 1970 vintage of Beaulieu Vineyard George de Latour Private Reserve Cabernet Sauvignon received second place. The winery was purchased by international conglomerate Heublein Inc., in 1969. [4] Heublein was later acquired by RJR Nabisco, then sold to Grand Metropolitan in 1987.
The vineyard was first planted in 1992, and opened to the public in 1995. [8] [9] Cape May Winery is one of the larger winegrowers in New Jersey, having 25 acres of grapes under cultivation, and producing 11,000 cases of wine per year.
