Diane Arbus (/ d iː ˈ æ n ˈ ɑːr b ə s /; née Nemerov; March 14, 1923 – July 26, 1971 [2]) was an American photographer. Howard Nemerov (February 29, 1920 – July 5, 1991) was an American poet. He was twice Poet Laureate Consultant in Poetry to the Library of Congress, from 1963 to 1964 and again from 1988 to 1990. [1] For The Collected Poems of Howard Nemerov (1977), he won the National Book Award for Poetry, [2] Pulitzer Prize for Poetry, [3] and Bollingen Prize.
After the breakup of his first marriage and the dissolution of his business, Arbus moved to California in 1969 to pursue a new career in acting. [10] His new career took off after he landed the lead role in Robert Downey Sr.'s 1972 cult film, Greaser's Palace, in which he appears with Robert Downey, Jr., who would go on to star as Diane Arbus's muse in Fur.
