The film was a huge critical success within Sri Lanka. At the 1968 Sarasaviya Film Awards, the film took home Best Film, Best Director, Best Male Film Role (Edmund Wijesinghe), Best Female Film Role (Denawaka Hamine), Best Film Editing, Best Music Direction, Best Lyricist (Mahagama Sekera — "Sinidu Sudu Mudu Thalawe") and Best Male Singer (W. D. Amaradeva — "Sinidu Sudu Mudu Thalawe").
Ashanthi De Alwis (Sinhala:අශාන්ති ද අල්විස්), known simply as Ashanthi, is a Sri Lankan rapper, singer and songwriter.She is the only Sri Lankan female rapper who signed with international record labels Sony Music and Universal Music in 2006.
He collaborated with him for the song "Aathichudi" [2] for the soundtrack of the film TN 07 AL 4777 (2008) [3] in 2009 which is a remake of Surangani, a song from his first independent album, Tamizha [4] Back in Sri Lanka, he did a cross-culture album [5] in 2005 which includes songs in Tamil, Sinhala and English. The earliest stars of Sri Lankan recorded music came from the theater at a time when the traditional open-air drama (referred to in Sinhala as kolam, sokari or nadagam) remained the most popular form of entertainment.
