The rings of Jupiter are a system of faint planetary rings. The Jovian rings were the third ring system to be discovered in the Solar System, after those of Saturn and Uranus . The main ring was discovered in 1979 by the Voyager 1 space probe [ 1 ] and the system was more thoroughly investigated in the 1990s by the Galileo orbiter. [ 2 ]

Valhalla is the largest multi-ring basin on Callisto and in the Solar System (with diameter up to 3,800 km). Jupiter might have shaped the Solar System on its grand tack. In planetary astronomy, the grand tack hypothesis proposes that Jupiter formed at a distance of 3.5 AU from the Sun, then migrated inward to 1.5 AU, before reversing course due to capturing Saturn in an orbital resonance, eventually halting near its current orbit at 5.2 AU.
