Formosa Plastics Corporation (Chinese: 台灣塑膠公司; lit. 'Taiwan Plastics Company') is a Taiwanese plastics company based in Taiwan (formerly called "Formosa") that primarily produces polyvinyl chloride (PVC) resins and other intermediate plastic products.
Formosa Plastics Group (FPG, Chinese: 臺塑企業; pinyin: Tái Sù Jítuán) is a titular Taiwanese conglomerate of diverse interests, including biotechnology, petrochemical processing and production of electronics components. The group was founded by Wang Yung-ching and his brother Wang Yung-tsai, and is chaired by Wong Wen-yuan.
On 6 September 2011, a fire broke out at Formosa Petrochemical's No. 3 refinery plant. The fire started because of a leakage during the start of an alkylation unit at the plant but was put out within 30 minutes. [3] On 15 July 2020, a fire broke out at No. 2 residual desulphurization unit. [4] [5]
