The original bridge was funded and constructed by the Post family who settled the town of Seabreeze. In 1926, Seabreeze was incorporated into Daytona Beach, and the bridge was then sold to the bridge authority. In 1942, it was found to be in disrepair vehicular traffic was no longer permitted, only regulated pedestrian usage.

US 92 crosses two parallel bridges over the Hillsborough River, which consist of a 1939-built eastbound vertical lift bridge, and a 1960-built westbound bascule bridge. Later the road intersects with BUS US 41 , I-275 again at Exits 47 A-B, then intersects northbound U.S. Route 41 and SR 45 , where US 41 and 92 overlap each other.
