The Texas Southern Tigers is the college football team representing Texas Southern University, a historically black university (HBCU) in Houston.The Tigers play in the NCAA's Division I FCS as a member of the Southwestern Athletic Conference (SWAC), a conference whose members are all HBCUs.
Led fourth-year head coach Clarence McKinney, the Tigers compiled an overall record of 5–6 with a mark of 4–4 in conference play, tying for third place in the SWAC's West Division. Texas Southern played home games at BBVA Compass Stadium in Houston.
He was also named Black College Defensive Player of the Year. As a junior in 1991, Strahan led the SWAC with 14.5 quarterback sacks. His 41.5 career sacks is a Texas Southern record.
